Bookkeeper & Administrative Assistant (Part time / Remote)

Are you interested in the bookkeeping processes for small businesses?

Help keep the books tidy, and our financials set up for success! We're growing and looking for help with our bookkeeping tasks on a part time, remote basis.

This is a great opportunity for someone who really enjoys organizing things and making them "just so". You're looking to take ownership over building good systems to keep things organized. To work directly with leadership. And, to get some exposure to international accounting standards.

Please note, you do not need to be a chartered accountant to apply for this role.

Role & Responsibilities

As a bookkeeper with our company, you'll likely do the following:

  • Keep up the books! Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records of the company, including tracking invoicing, payments, expenses.
  • Enter and update accurate and detailed records on our accounting software: Wave Financial (waveapps.com/) as well as on Google Sheets.
  • Reconcile accounts. Review invoices, expenses and timesheets for any irregularities.
  • Assist with the preparation of documents or records for tax filing purposes.
  • Generate financial statements such as Cash Flow, Profit & Loss and Account Balance statements.
  • Provide regular updates on profitability, cash flow requirements and alert about any potential issues well in advance.
  • Track and help to prepare documents for contracts, invoices, payments or otherwise.
  • Other bookkeeping or administrative tasks that contribute to the overall goal.

About the Position

You'll be working with our founders directly to help set up the initial good bookkeeping foundations.

This is currently a part-time (5 to 10 hours per week), fully remote role. It has the option to grow into more hours as the company grows.

There are no set working hours, but meetings are usually between 6 and 10 pm IST to coordinate with team members in the North American timezone.

Working with a startup is a unique experience. It offers a lot of flexibility, as well as a lot of opportunity to grow and develop.

Qualifications / Requirements

You'll be likely to succeed in this role if you:

  • Are very familiar with bookkeeping best practices.
  • Are interested in the bookkeeping processes of small businesses, especially in setting processes up.
  • Have previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Are highly detail-oriented and accurate. You check your work thrice.
  • Work well independently, including setting and keeping your own milestones.

Additional Qualifications

Please highlight any prior experience you have with bookkeeping, finance, and/or accounting, especially international accounting practices.
