Job Summary:

As a Nursing Assistant, you will provide essential support to patients by assisting with daily living activities, ensuring comfort, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. You will work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care, monitor patient conditions, and contribute to their overall well-being.

Reports To: Senior Nurse → Doctor → Senior Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care:
  • Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
  • Help with mobility and transfers, including lifting and positioning patients safely.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse.
  • Provide support with toileting and personal hygiene needs.
• Clinical Support:
  • Assist nurses with medical procedures and patient care tasks as needed.
  • Prepare and clean patient rooms, ensuring a comfortable and sanitary environment.
  • Collect specimens, conduct basic tests, and document results.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
• Patient Monitoring:
  • Observe and report any changes in patients' physical or emotional conditions to the nursing staff.
  • Ensure patients receive appropriate nutrition and hydration.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.
• Communication and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including care provided and observations.
  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, patients, and their families.
  • Adhere to all healthcare regulations and safety protocols.
• Team Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

• Ordinary Level Certification.
• Advanced Level Certification
• Completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant training program
• Basic life support (BLS) certification

Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassionate, patient-focused attitude
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills for maintaining patient records.
• Fluency in English & Sinhala. Proficiency in Tamil is an advantage.
• Experience working with elderly patients.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move patients and equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Capacity to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
